Crushing {with Shimelle} for Jot

Challenge, Layout   /

I am happy to report that I am on a huge scrappy roll at the moment! I’ve done 4 layouts in the last 10 days… which is a far cry from the 2 layouts in 6 weeks prior to that. Most of them are for DT assignments, so I’ll have to wait to post those.

But… Jot Magazine have changed up their monthly board challenges, and I love the new spin, so of course I had to join in! The challenge was to use… Something STRIPEY, something BOLD, something GLITTERY, and something GOLD.

Crushing - Sandra Bunch

Ever since Shimelle revealed she would be releasing a collection with American Crafts, I knew I would love it. I adore Shimelle’s style and use of design, colour and her way of making sure she gets all the details in her journaling. I finally got my hands on her papers yesterday. My LSS had completely run out of everything Shimelle already, even though they only got it in this week! I snapped up the final piece, which was the 6×6 paper pad. Just enough to get started, and make something straight away for this challenge!

The colours happen to match Heidi Swapp’s ephemera too, so I mixed and matched with those. I used some of the Color Magic pieces with Sweet Cherry Color Shine – it’s a perfect match for Shimelle’s pink! Of course, Heidi’s glitter words had to make an appearance. They are so lovely and big, and perfect to use for titles. It could have covered off the gold and glittery, but more gold was of course required. I picked up the gold doily at my local dollar store.

Thanks for looking, I’ll have more layouts up soon if I stay on this creative roll!

Oh, and here’s the original Jot Magazine Something Board, that this layout is inspired by…
