So last month was my first attempt at Ali Edwards’ Day in the Life challenge. As the day progressed, I felt a bit disappointed that it was just a regular old day around the house, with regular old mummy duties… and then I realised “hey! it’s just a regular old day around the house, with regular old mummy duties!!!” (Amazing what a different perspective on the same thing can do!) And I’m glad it was just a regular old day… I had tonnes of photos anyway.
So of course, then came the challenge to make a layout with said photos, while still getting the story across. I checked out the templates available, and what other people had done previously. So much inspiration. But in the end, I didn’t want to cull my photos, and I’d never actually documented our typical day – so it became a random display of each “thing” we do. It may not be a life of adventure or glamour – but it’s our life, and we love it. And this is a true representation of how it is/was on Thursday, February 28, 2013 – just a regular old AWESOME day of housework and school dropoff/pickup.
So will I be doing this again? To be honest, at the time I didn’t think I would. It’s tough to remember to take photos all throughout the day, and of random things you never thought you would photograph. Yet the answer is an unequivocal YES. It may not be this month, it may not be next month, but I absolutely love how this form of scrapping gets to the real and raw of life in the here and now.
