Random 30

Challenge   /

I am part of a wonderful Facebook group of memory keeping bloggers, and we motivate each other, challenge each other and support each other. If you’re interested in joining, let me know. This week’s focus was to compile a list of random things about ourselves. As daunting as that first seemed, once I got in the swing of it, things just kept flowing. Admittedly, after a few days when my list was finished, I found that I’d written some points 2 or 3 times. That in itself highlighted what’s most important to me – a healing experience in itself. I actually came up with more, but part of my process for culling back to 30 points, was to ensure I kept things in the list that I probably wasn’t going to scrapbooking about separately.

Have a read, and then compile your own list. I’d love to see what you come up with, so feel free to link to your blog in the comments.

30 Random Things About Me 32

30 Things About Me { at 32 }

1. I hate cooking, but love baking
2. I don’t like feet. I especially don’t like people touching my feet
3. I believe everything happens for a reason, even if we don’t know what that reason is at the time.
4. I believe everything has an energy – some things resonate beautifully, other things… not so much
5. My sister and I used to fight. A lot. Now…she’s my best friend. I can’t believe we wasted so many years fighting.
6. I have been wanting my own craft website for about 7 years (so far!)
7. I love colours, all colours. But I am a real sucker for anything lime green
8. I think too much
9. My husband proposed to me at a bus stop in Long Beach CA (we were both intoxicated – but I would have said yes, even if we weren’t)
10. I like eating lemons, just as they are
11. I was on a TV ad for my university for 3 years. They sent me to Paris & New York to shoot the ad. Even though we worked from about 10am to 10pm every day, we had a blast!
12. I don’t really like dogs, but dogs seem to love me. They ALWAYS come up to lick me and want to play
13. While I was at the doctor asking for contraceptive 4 months after having my first baby, I found out I was pregnant. I cried (not good tears). I hate that it took me ages to like the idea I was having # 2… I was just so exhausted, and so scared. Of course now I wouldn’t swap him for the world.
14. After having 2 kids so close, we decided 2 was enough, and sold all the baby gear. I went to a psychic just after I turned 30, and she told me I would have another one. I laughed at her. About a month later, I realised she was right.
15. In trying for baby # 3, I had a miscarriage, followed by an ectopic pregnancy, where I had to have my left tube removed after it burst. To anyone wondering… that pain is much worse than child birth. And more scary.
16. I was Vice Captain of my primary school in 1993.
17. I am 5’3″ or 160cm tall. I hate being short – and it was so not cool of the boys at school teasing me about it. Despite my height, I made the Gateway Basketball team in about 10th grade.
18. My favourite scent is Lemongrass essential oil
19. You wouldn’t know it looking around my house, but I am a neat freak. I hate disarray! Messiness is my #1 cause of anxiety!
20. I used to sell decorated wooden letters on eBay. It lasted a few years, but orders always came at busy times for me. I stopped around Sept 2010 before I started hating it.
21. My favourite city to travel to is Paris (so far!)
22. I didn’t like my husband before I met him in person. We would converse over the phone about work issues, and I thought he was very arrogant. Little did I know that within weeks, I would fall in love with him during a work trip in Phoenix, Arizona USA. { Yes, he can still be arrogant, but he’s also the sweetest, loyal and supportive man }
23. My first job was at a pet store in Browns Plains, Pet Solutions, co-owned by my mum. I was 14 years and 9 months old (I started as soon as I was legally allowed to). I would clean ‘mess’ from animal cages, and dust the shelves. Onwards and upwards!
24. My first car was a manual 1983 blue Ford Laser. I bought it with my own money when I was 16, before I even got my Learner’s permit.
25. I graduated high school when I was 16. I turned 17 on the last day of Schoolies Week. I got my driver’s license the Monday after.
26. I live, breathe and sleep scrapbooking. I can’t believe I got to 26 before mentioning it. But if you’re already looking through my scrapbooking albums, then I guess you already know that 🙂
27. When I was growing up, I wanted to work at McDonald’s, or be a hairdresser (I learned to do my own hair at a very early age because I didn’t like how Mum used to pull it so hard). I turned to IT in high school when I realised I was really good with computers.
28. It took me 4.5 years to do my 3 year BA Software Engineering, as I worked full-time and studied part-time from the third year. By the time I graduated, I wasn’t even doing programming anymore.
29. I prefer lollies to chocolate. I love sugar.
30. I still miss my grandad after 20+ years of him dying. Throughout my life, I have used his memory to make decisions that I know would have made him proud. I know I’ve made him proud.

So there you have it. I would have loved to turn this list into a scrapbooking layout, but alas, I have run out of time! I absolutely will though. You can hold me to that.

    It’s great reading all these facts. It’s also quite insightful too for what people put in their facts about them. Thanks for sharing. I like to learn about my online friends.

      Hi Amity. I know, it’s totally cool to see that most of the time, we’re just different women, all in the same boat. I think the fact that because we made it 30 things we’re seeing lots that are similar… I wonder if it would be the same if we limited it to 5 or 10. Let’s see what happens in our next little challenge 🙂
